Savoury:
The speciality of the island is “matsata”. It is hand-made pasta usually served with rabbit or chicken cooked in tomato sauce.
“Kalassouna” is a pie to choose as appetizer and it is made with local soft goat cheese called “souroto” and onions. You can also have souroto as appetizer or have it on top of your Greek salad instead of feta cheese.
Sweet:
“Karpouzenia” is a sweet pie made of watermelon, honey and sesame; you will find it in only a few restaurants.
“Makarones” have a particular taste. Made with orange juice dough and aromatics, they are served with honey, sesame seeds and cinnamon. You will only find them at “Pasithea” restaurant at Agali.
